1ST ANNUAL SHOWCASE AT NBDL GAMES
We had two showcases prior to NBA Developmental League games. The first one was prior to the Westchester Knicks game and the second one was prior to Delaware 87ers game. Our third showcase prior to Erie Bayhaks game was cancelled due to the fact that we had to fly out of the country for a tour. We still donated tickets to the Boys and Girls Club of Erie to attend the Bayhawks game instead.
FIRST SHOWCASE @ WESTCHESTER KNICKS GAME
November 22, 2014
The first ever NJ-Pros showcase was hosted for the first time at the Westchester County Center prior to the Westchester Knicks inagural season game. The showcase was a total success, the organization made history by becoming the first pro team to open up for the Westchester Knicks. The players were excited to play and put on a show with the white squad defeating the black squad with final score of 90-63. Felipe Lopez, former NBA player was the white squad honorary coach. The NJ-Pros donated tickets to the youth of Westchester, including 25 kids from the Felipe Lopez Foundation who were able to take the court for 10 minutes and sit courtside during the showcase. Former NBA and current Westchester Knicks player Andre Barrett came out and took pictures with the players and kids. But most importantly took time out to talk to the kids about what it takes to be a pro on and off the basketball court.
SECOND SHOWCASE @ DELAWARE 87ERS GAME
January 10, 2015
NJ-Pros second showcase as a total success. NJ-Pros owner/player Christian Villar had the honor and privilege to speak before our showcase game to the youth of the Philadelphia YMCA. NJ-Pros donated tickets to all the kid and their parents for our showcase game at the University of Delaware prior to the 87ers game. Villar spoke to the kids about the importance of obtaining and education, working hard on and off the basketball courts, and most importantly to never let a title, position, or jersey determine who they are because what make them who they are is their characters and not the labels they may receive from society. Special thanks YMCA Director William Hayes-Webb for being part of this and bring the kids and are really grateful and honor to have been able to do this for them.
